The Challenge host guides you through the process of describing what you need to get done, and in how much time. You don't necessarily need to know every detail about what you want, but enough to get realistic quotes from different designers and firms.

Step 2: Get multiple quotes from professionals and firms.
Within hours, you will start receiving quotes from multiple professionals on Elance. These quotes will typically include details such as:
- What you can expect to receive
- How long it will take
- How much it will cost
- Relevant work history and samples
In some cases, you may elect to speak with the designers to clarify what you need to get.
Step 3: Select the winning professional or firm.
Review the quotes, the ratings and the online profiles of the designers that are right for you. You have as much information as you want, with the ability to see how the designer was rated for every project completed on Elance. You may also decide to communicate using the Elance message board or speak with some designers to clarify issues.
Pick the designer that meets your needs and budget.
Step 4: Receive your work online and pay safely.
The Challenge host is designed to help you work with web design professionals, no matter where they are based. You get a private message board with which to communicate and maintain a history of discussions. You get a 'project workbench,' where you can share and review files, and keep track of work as it gets done.
When it is time for payment, the service provider sends you an invoice using the Challenge host. You can pay safely using:
